COP ‘ORDERED’ HIT SQUAD

-

>> A kamnan in Ratchaburi, the latest suspect detained in the love triangle murder case involving a 28-year-old woman, said the two people who killed her were hired on the orders of a Ban Pong district police station superintendent.

Police yesterday arrested Sanong Somsit, 54, a kamnan of Lat Bua Khao subdistrict in Ban Pong district of Ratchaburi. They have accused him of being involved in the abduction and murder of Suphakson Ponthaisong, whose body was found buried in Kanchanaburi province’s Muang district.

The arrest was carried out after a warrant was issued by Taling Chan Provincial Court, Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Sanit Mahathavorn said.

Police took Mr Sanong to a press conference yesterday. Mr Sanong said he had told Pol Lt Gen Sanit that he knew Amnuay Phongsawad, 58, a superintendent of Ban Pong police station arrested for masterminding the crime, for a long time.

In November last year Pol Col Amnuay phoned him to ask him to find a team to abduct Suphakson and kill her.

“I confirm that Pol Col Amnuay did not order the team to abduct the victim to ‘give her a lesson’ as reported,” he said. Mr Sanong said there were three reasons which caused Pol Col Amnuay to be so angry with the victim and led him to hiring a team to kill her.

The first concerned a 4-million-baht debt Suphakson allegedly owed to Kannikar Krumrum, a 38-year-old restaurant singer who is allegedly a mistress of Pol Col Amnuay. The money belonged to Pol Col Amnuay and Suphakson did not return it.

The second was jealousy as the victim had a secret romantic relationship with Ms Kannikar, and the victim had allegedly phoned Pol Col Amnuay to scold him.

The third is that Suphakson posted on Facebook and insulted Pol Col Amnuay about his sexual organ.

Police said Mr Sanong allegedly contacted Niwat Suaythong, 32, and his accomplices to arrange for the abduction.

Pol Col Amnuay, Mr Niwat and his alleged accomplice Phumithat Piboonsawad, 24, are being detained by police.

Mr Sanong took 200,000 baht from Pol Col Amnuay to hand to Mr Niwat while Mr Sanong received 60,000 baht for arranging the abduction and murder.
