Mushroom eyes Vietnam
Mushroom Television Co, a subsidiary of SET-listed Post Publishing Plc, has clinched a deal with Life TV Co to broadcast one of its TV programmes in Vietnam. The firm hopes to generate 30 million baht this year from the agreement.
The move to Vietnam is expected to strengthen the network of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Thailand and neighbouring countries.
Mushroom’s popular TV show, Ayu Noi Roi Lan (Young Self-Made Millionaire), which has interviewed 200 SME owners in the past four years, will be the only programme to broadcast on Life TV’s channel in Vietnam.
The move is in line with the Thai government’s sharing economy policy that develops young entrepreneurs using advice from experienced professionals.
“The local content from Ayu Noi Roi Lan and development between Mushroom and Life TV will help facilitate the network of Thai SMEs abroad,” said Akarat Nitibhon, Mushroom’s managing director.
Asean is the major target market for expanding Thai trade cooperation and strengthening the Thai economy, he said.
Mr Akarat said the move would guarantee Mushroom TV’s recognition abroad. About 250 episodes of the TV show are expected to start airing on Life TV channel by the second quarter this year.
Mushroom already signed a contract to provide TV programmes in native languages in Laos and Cambodia.
“We hope more TV operators in Asean will be able to broadcast our programme this year,” he said.
Its Laotian partner is scheduled to broadcast the show in February and Cambodia in March.
Mushroom TV is investing 7 million baht for content production this year. The company provides lifestyle, travel, food and business motivation content.
Mushroom is 51% owned by Post Publishing and has 80 million baht in registered capital.
The company projects revenue to grow by 30% to 330 million baht this year, boosted by the expansion to nearby countries.
