Face up to Chinese New Year
Like wearing new clothing to welcome the Chinese New Year, primping with make-up is as important to promote positive energy, according to feng shui principles.
“It’s a Fire Rooster year. Colours like pink, gold, golden-orange, golden-brown and orange-brown can generally enhance facial feng shui of women under every zodiac sign,” Chanyapak Wittayaanumas said of the lucky palette.
Chanyapak and Chityanan Thanyanitirat — both facial feng shui experts — will be giving their advice at The Lucky Make-Up session this weekend at Central department stores as a part of “Central Chinese New Year 2017” campaign, which will run till Feb 5.
“For your eyes, use pink or orange and add a touch of brown to create a V at the outer corner. Use pop gold glitter on the middle part of the eyelid to attract money and good fortune. It also helps make things run smoother during a business negotiation,” said Chanyapak.
The forehead is associated with work life, she added, and lines, pimples or scars up there bring obstacles. Right below, brows should be shaped straight to secure a happy relationship.
Besides being a tarot and oracle card master, Chanyapak also runs an eyebrow salon and beauty clinic.
Chityanan is also a brow expert specialising in sliding, a new technique similar to tattooing but much less painful. Eyebrow grooming can change people lives, she said, and more than 90% of her clients have experienced positive changes.
“The eyebrows are doors to good fortune. Use brown, from a lighter brown at the head to a darker shade at the tail of the brow,” Chityanan said. “The eyes are your energy — if you have a lot of white area on the eyes, wear big eye contact lenses. Also use contact lenses to make the eyes round and bright. If you have droopy eyes, use eyeliner to perk them up.”
Not overlooking hair, she advised a left parting because this year’s luck-summoning part is on the left temple, which needs to be kept clear in order to attract good luck.
“Use blushers in pink and orange on cheekbones, which should not be hollow,” she said. “Lips should not be too bold with a sweep of light and cool colours such as pink or peach, which are in harmony with the Year of the Rooster.”
The Lucky Make-Up session by feng shui experts will take place at 3pm on Jan 28 at Central Lardprao and Central Bangna, and on Jan 29 at Central EastVille and Central WestGate department stores.
