ON THE FACE OF IT...

IT’S TIME TO COMMIT, ONCE AND PORE ALL, WITH SANCTUARY

- STORY LYDIA BILTON

Confession time. Until recently my skin and I were in an on-again-off-again relationship.

If my pores were the girl-next-door, I was the serial dater. It’s not that I didn’t care. I did. I just could never find the time to commit. Cleanse, exfoliate, scrub, apply mask. Time, time and more time. Rinse, tone, moisturise. If you are going to do the whole shebang properly, you need to set aside an hour at least. And let’s be real, that’s time none of us have. Knowing this, you’ll understand why I was hesitant when I was asked to try out the latest DIY home facial kit by Sanctuary Spa, which hails all the way from Covent Garden, London. But as it goes, this heavenly four-step treatment was super speedy, proving perfect for us time-poor ladies who still give a damn about our complexion (or try to, at least).

Free from parabens, Sanctuary Spa’s new four-piece range is formulated with natural oil extracts. To kick things off I began with the Sanctuary Spa CLEANSE Foaming Micellar Cleansing water. Made with Argan oil and rose extract, the cleanser creates a gentle foam, drawing out all the gunk from your pores. Accompanied by an uplifting, floral fragrance, this proved a pleasant start to the regime.

I then applied Sanctuary Spa CLEANSE Radiance Exfoliator. Packed with apricot and grape seed beads to remove dead skin, as well as pumpkin, pineapple and papaya extracts to add radiance, this exfoliator smelled every bit as fruity as it sounds. While some scrubs can feel rough and scratchy, the Sanctuary Spa Radiance Exfoliator wasn’t too rough, and yet, it still did an impeccable job, leaving my skin feeling silky smooth.

So far, so good. I had already been on an aromatic voyage. But what happened next was the real game changer. The final two steps in this regime were totally dope, enough to turn the staunchest of skincare cynics into full-blown beauty believers. After the exfoliator followed the Sanctuary Spa’s CLEANSE Warming Detox Charcoal Wash. An ageold remedy for skin purification, charcoal reduces excess oil and prevents future breakouts. And oh boy, was this a treat. Once applied, the cream warmed my skin. The cream’s thermal properties opened my pores, steaming out impurities.

I finished with the face mask. Usually, this is the step I utterly despise. Some masks I’ve used I’ve had to leave on for half an hour. However, Sanctuary Spa’s CLEANSE 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask, (as you may have guessed) takes literally five minutes. You’ll barely make it through a commercial break before it’s time to take it off. Like the Charcoal Wash, the mask is thermally activated, melting away any last remnants of dirt or oil.

The whole process took me around 20 minutes and honestly, walking out of the bathroom felt like walking out of a real spa. My skin felt rejuvenated, velvety and soft. You know, the kind of climbing-into-clean-sheets-with-freshlyshaved-legs feeling. The other great thing about this treatment is you can pick it up from any Boots retailer nationwide.

For a time-efficient, spa-quality treatment you can’t look past the new Sanctuary Spa CLEANSE range. So, those of us who tout the old time-poor excuse no longer have a defence. Be done with that non-committing nonsense, once and pore all. I certainly am.
