Bangkok fashion week comes to Siam
The shopping centre trio — Siam Paragon, Siam Center and Siam Discovery — will be transformed into a runway for the “Bangkok International Fashion Week 2017”, which kicks off today and runs until Sunday.
Held to mark the 10th anniversary of Thailand’s fashion week, BIFW 2017 gathers 36 Thai designers and leading fashion labels to offer new dimensions of the fashion world through numerous runway shows and activities.
The event will open with “IAmSiam_ISM” show displaying the spring/ summer collection designed by leading Thai designers, at Atrium 1 in Siam Center at 6pm today. Chinese-born haute couture designer Guo Pei and established Thai designers from Bangkok Fashion Society will deliver talks at Theatre 8 in Paragon Cineplex, 5th floor, Siam Paragon tomorrow from 3-5pm.
The extravaganza will have a string of fashion shows that will take place at Siam Paragon and Siam Center every evening, from Thursday to Sunday.
A total of 11 shows will be staged under the gigantic dome of Siam Paragon’s Parc Paragon, with the opening show by Guo Pei set for Thursday at 7pm. The other 10 shows will feature world-class costumes from Issue, Tube Gallery, Asava, Vatanika, Nagara, Adhoc, House of PB, Shaka, La Boutique, Fri27Nov, Milin and other Thai designers.
Reserved for wardrobe staples by up-and-coming Thai designers, Siam Center will present shows from the likes of Kanapot Aunsorn and Vinn Patararin, as well as students from Silpakorn, Kasetsart, Srinakharinwirot, Rangsit and Bangkok universities and the Chanapatana International Design Institute (CIDI).
Representing itself as a creative space for unique and personalised fashion taste, Siam Discovery will give fashion lovers an opportunity to create their own looks using their favourite international brands with virtual reality at the “Style Factory” digital fashion presentation. It runs on the M floor until April 20.
Male fashionistas are invited to try a similar fashion innovation at the BIFW Gentlemen’s Grooming Lounge by Pursuit, which will be on the ground floor from Friday to April 4.
