- Seacon Bangkae is on Phetkasem Road. Call 02-721-8888.

Seacon Bangkae will once again transform its first floor into a traditional Lanna market full of Lanna cultural heritage and delicacies during the “Kad Mua Market Tour, The Lanna Way” from tomorrow to April 9.

More than 100 people from the Lanna community will travel from Chiang Mai to present the true charm of the invaluable Lanna lifestyle. Running under the virtually realistic atmosphere of Lanna city, the fair is divided into three major zones.

The “Cultural Corner” will present dazzling performances of rarely-seen Lanna arts and culture such as the classical dances of maan mui chiang ta and noi jai ya which were widely played during the era of Princess Dara Rasmi, one of the princess consorts of King Rama V. Visitors will also witness kao joi contemporary music, kam muang folk songs of northern Thai dialect, formerly popular music narrating the beauty of northern Thailand, folk music and Lanna contemporary music.

The “Lanna Craftsmanship Demonstration Corner” will show how to make Buddha offerings involving many craft techniques, how to create artificial flowers using gold and silver plates, how to weave fabric in a bowl pattern and how to paint Bo Sang umbrellas.

The “Ancient Lanna Kad” market will offer a variety of authentic northern local dishes such as khao soi (coconut curry noodle soup with chicken), kai pam (grilled egg on banana leaf ), lab kua (roasted spicy minced meat), jin som (sour fermented meat), kang ho (mixed curry soup), kang hunglay (curry soup with garlic), ab moo jin mok (steamed slices of pork) and nam prik aong (chilli dip).

The market will also feature more than 70 shops selling handicraft products, gifts and souvenirs from the North such as woven fabrics, silverware, silverware and carved wood.
