Smarter living begins at home
In an attempt to apply their concept of “Smart Home, Smart Living and Smart Society”, Fiber One, a provider of digital services, has worked with property developer Sammakorn to install fibre-optic networks in 14 gated-communities and condominiums in the company-property portfolio.
The goal of theproject is to deploy broadband internet connectivity to increase a digital lifestyle. As of today, two pilot projects have gone live with high-speed fibre-optic networks connected to Sammakorn Bangkapi in Bangkok and S9 condominium in Nonthaburi.
Fiber One CEO Kitti Kosinsakul said the company foresees that the global trend is changing and we are now stepping into the digital age. Digitisation is becoming part and parcel of daily life. Therefore, fibre-optic networks are an important infrastructure providing convenient, fast and responsive access to the internet’s vast array of platforms.
People’s surfing behaviour has also changed and they are no longer prepared to wait 30 seconds or more before connecting; they will simply change their minds and connect to another brand.
“We believe the trend of [smart homes] is being driven by the new generation’s requirement for an always-on digital lifestyle,” said Kittipol Pramoj Na Ayudhya, managing director at Sammakorn.
Fiber One continues to roll out — and light up — its fibre-optic network to Sammakorn’s gated-communities and condominiums, and is now being tasked with the vital installation of E-Security through its CCTVs for Sammakorn’s comprehensive security system.
Property developers such as Sammakorn are not legally required to invest in the installation of fibre-optic networks, but decided to partner with Fiber One due to its “Sharing And Caring” business theme. Fiber One is responsible for the installation of the network for juristic persons overseeing Sammakorn developments, including maintenance of the network for 15 years, after which Fiber One will transfer ownership to the on-site juristic office.
Sammakorn has also installed CCTVs so that homeowners can monitor their property via mobile phone, allowing them to keep an eye on their elders or young children. Moreover, Sammakorn is also partnering with Smart Life Systems to deploy a remote home-control solution called ULTI Zigbee Ezinstall3. The high-tech solution for modern smart homes allows them to, for example, switch on the air-conditioning 20 minutes before arriving; turn on lights; and record TV programs. The fully digital service also includes fibre TV and electrical devices that are internet-connected, allowing for more functionality.
Fiber One is a digital-service platform provider for multi-residential units that collaborates with juristic entities to provide broadband internet infrastructure and other digital services. Fiber One installs fibre-optic networks in each home of a gated-community or each room of a condominium, replacing the lower-speed coaxial cable.
