Circus of horrors

-

I am horrified that Martin R in his April 26 letter, “Harping about circuses”, would even suggest that elephants in circuses are trained with love and kindness. Then why do trainers use ropes, cattle prods and sharp hooks? And why have ex-trainers admitted that beating elephants is part of the training. The elephants also live in chains and travel around in box cars.

He says Ringling Bros in America only “allegedly” violated the Animal Welfare Act. Then why did they pay the fine? And why would the USDA. hardly a friend of the animal rights movement, make such a charge in the first place if not true.

I urge the readers to google:” 12 things Ringling doesn’t want you to know”
