Kobkarn Wattanavra­ngkul, minister of tourism and sports, and Nijaporn Charanachi­tta, chairwoman of the board of directors, OHTL — the operator of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok — presided over a reception to bid farewell to general manager Amanda Hyndman, at the Authors’ Lounge. Her achievemen­ts included the hotel’s 140th anniversar­y celebratio­ns, last year’s US$18 million (620 million baht) restoratio­n and CSR activities. After early retirement, Hyndman will reside in Scotland whereas her successor, Greg Liddell, who previously managed Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, will oversee operations of the legendary riverside hotel.
