Three new Breguet models incorporate the brand’s classic themes
Since 2002, Breguet’s Reine de Naples has ruled as a refined feminine collection whose interpretations have incorporated art, gemstones and horological complications.
The regal series continues with three models presented last month at BaselWorld 2017 watch and jewellery show.
Like how an oval-shaped face is a beauty ideal, the classic ovoid case has an elegant aesthetic enhanced by the design and material of the dial that give the Reine de Naples Princesse 8965 its sublime look.
The subtly cambered design of the rose gold case contrasts with the clean-cut, resolutely graphic lines of its engine-turned dial in pure white mother-of-pearl.
The dial gracefully follows the curvaceous case, thereby creating an unusual depth effect highlighting the two large, rounded rose gold hour-markers appearing at 6 and 12 o’clock.
A sapphire crystal cashback reveals the mechanical self-winding movement crafted according to the finest Swiss watchmaking traditions, with its oscillating weight in solid gold.
The dazzling model has a diamond-set bezel along with the crown and the ball-type lug, respectively set with an inverted diamond and with brilliant-cut diamonds.
An alligator leather strap lends a classic look to the watch whereas a rose-gold link bracelet secured by a medallion buckle makes it more a “princess” timepiece.
This iconic women’s collection is inspired by a bracelet watch that Abraham-Louis Breguet created for Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples. Back then in 1810, the legendary watchmaker actually invented the wristwatch.
The legacy in crafting ladies’ watches thrives in giving bestsellers including the Reine de Naples 8918 featuring the distinctly larger Breguet numerals.
The 2017 model features a dial combining Tahitian and natural white mother-of-pearl, the latter hand-guilloché and offset at 6 o’clock where a pear-shape diamond replaces an Arabic numeral.
The rose gold case is set with brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel and flange while a briolette-cut diamond adorns the crown at 4 o’clock.
The latest Reine de Naples 8918 comes in two variations: one with a midnight blue satin-finish leather strap and the other with a chain bracelet.
The daintier Reine de Naples Mini line also has a new addition boasting the characteristic mother-of-pearl dial and its off-centred 6 o’clock chapter ring, now featuring oversized graphic Arabic numerals designed to match the case shape.
Paved with diamonds, the ball-type lug adds extra sparkle to the model, along with precious stones on the winding crown, bezel, flange and folding clasp in gold, finely set with brilliant-cut diamonds
Available in white or rose gold, Reine de Naples Mini 8928 like the other sister models is powered by a mechanical self-winding movement.
