The feminine TOUCH
An increasing interest in mechanical horology among women has Breguet feminising its timepieces including those in the Tradition line, which pays tribute to the brand’s heritage and its legendary souscription watches.
Unveiled at Baselworld 2017, the 37mm Tradition Dame 7038 features a magnificent face displaying exquisite engineering.
The centrally-positioned barrel is decorated with a rosette motif and overlapped at 12 o’clock by a dainty offset dial in natural white mother-of-pearl, finely adorned with handcrafted engine-turned “Clous de Paris” hobnailing.
The hours chapter bears Arabic numerals, with the time indicated by rose gold open-tipped Breguet hands. Retrograde seconds are subtly engraved on the face, on the left side of the dial.
Although in full view, the main movement gear trains as well as the bridges bearing them remain sufficiently discreet to ensure smooth reading of the time.
The sandblasted mainplate and bridges are rhodium-plated to aesthetically create a contrast with the rose gold case, whose bezel is set with 68 brilliant-cut diamonds while the crown is also topped with a gemstone.
The sapphire-crystal case back displays the self-winding movement, Calibre 505 SR providing a 50-hour power reserve, and its gold oscillating weight embellished with the same motif as the barrel.
The marriage of craftsmanship and mechanical complexity makes the Tradition Dame 7038 another haute horlogerie creation by the long-established Swiss watchmaker.
