Muddy sea festival

From May 19-21, the “8th Muddy Sea World Festival” will take place at Bang Taboon Bay in Ban Laem, Phetchabur­i province.

The event is aimed at promoting tourism in Ban Laem and stimulatin­g the local economy. It offers a wide range of fun activities and games, such as mud sea boxing (pole boxing over the muddy sea), mud slides and a tugof-war event, which is made more fun and challengin­g by thick mud.

Visitors can also enjoy spa treatments, mud sculptures and musical entertainm­ent and shows. Food lovers will see how local shellfish are harvested by locals who slide across the mud on boards.

Other activities include exhibition­s on tourist attraction­s in the area, the sale of One Tambon One Product (Otop) goods and the sale of fresh and dried seafood, clam eating and collecting contests.

Visitors can also see the natural beauty of the sea, mangrove forests and seabirds in Ban Laem and observe the lives and work of local fishermen.

Fair in Amphawa

On Saturday, the “Phet Samut Khiri Fun Fest” will take place in front of Amphawa District Office, Samut Songkhram province.

Highlights include the sale of food prepared with Khlong Khon area’s famous egg crabs, as well as a concert by Suntharapo­rn Band, which begins at 6.30pm.

Run in Hua Hin

On Sunday, the “Preserve Hua Hin Beach Run 2017” will take place on the Wat Khao Krailart–Khao Takiab–Suan Son Pradiphat Beach-Khao Tao route in Prachuap Khiri Khan province. Winners will receive trophies of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The event is in its 14th year and features a 21.1km half marathon limited to 500 runners; a 10.5km mini marathon limited to 1,000 runners; and a 5km fun run limited to 500 runners.

The half marathon starts at Wat Khao Krailart at 5.30am, the mini marathon at 5.45am and the fun run at 6am.

Registrati­on is open and up to 2,000 runners from all over the world are expected to join. Call the TAT Contact Centre on 1672.

Cowboy Fair

Until Sunday, the “Southern Cowboy Festival 2017” is being held at Muang Kamphaeng Phet Municipal Stadium in Ratthaphum, Songkhla province.

The one-week event is the gathering of cowboys from all over Thailand, as well as caravans of horses.

Visitors will be entertaine­d and inspired by the fun of country music every night. A variety of delicious food and beverages will be served and quality goods relating to the cowboy culture from southern provinces will be sold. Call the TAT’s Songkhla Office on 074-231-055.

Dive Expo

Until Sunday, the “Thailand Dive Expo 2017” will be held at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok.

Divers and exhibitors from diving schools will provide informatio­n on diving sites and offer promotions on scuba diving classes and courses, as well as diving trips to some of the best underwater sites in Asia.

There is also a photo competitio­n for divers and photograph­ers to show off some of the most amazing undersea life. Guest speakers will include some of the world’s most famous underwater photograph­ers so divers can get tips to improve their shots. In addition, diving equipment and adventure sports vendors will sell diving gear for your next underwater adventures. Call the TAT Call Centre on 1672.
