Dusit opening in Vietnam
Dusit International, a leading Thai hotel management chain, has clinched a franchise deal with Vietnam’s Linh Chi Co to open its first hotel in Vietnam.
Dusit International yesterday had a signing ceremony with Linh Chi Co for Dusit Princess Moonrise Beach Resort at Phu Quoc, to mark a further step for the group’s footprint in Vietnam.
The 108-room, four-star hotel is located in Phu Quoc, Vietnam’s largest island, which has become popular for tourists in recent years.
Dusit Thani’s group chief executive Suphajee Suthumoun said Phu Quoc will become a major tourist attraction over the next ten years as there are many megaproject developments being proposed by the Vietnamese government.
“Phu Quoc will be outlined as a special economic zone in the coming years, and Dusit saw an influx of high-end foreign travellers to the island, indicating very high potential,” she said.
According to Ms Suphajee, Phu Quoc welcomed 1.5 million domestic and international tourists in 2015 mostly from Europe, the United States and also high-income Vietnamese people. The Vietnamese government expects to welcome 3 million visitors by 2020.
Dusit Princess Moonrise Beach Resort at Phu Quoc is scheduled to open by the third quarter of this year.
Do Van Chanh, director of Linh Chi Co, said the company plans to open more hotels in Vietnam after the success of the hotel on Phu Quoc, saying that the competition there is intense but there is still more room to grow.
The Dusit Princess brand is appropriate for Phu Quoc in terms of its room number, facilities and overall geography, he said.
Today, there are more than 200 hotels located in Phu Quoc, said Mr Van Chanh.
Dusit International is expanding its hotel management business through franchises this year, and clinched a new deal in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in the first quarter.
Dusit International manages 29 hotels in 17 countries including Thailand under four brands: Dusit Thani, dusitD2, Dusit Princess and Dusit Devarana. Dusit International is part of Dusit Thani Group, which specialises in hotel development and management.
The group has 46 new hotels in 21 countries in the pipeline in the Middle East, Europe, Africa and Asia, especially China.
