Eat Me to visit Koh Samui

Chef Tim Butler will be cooking up a storm

-

WKoh Samui is to feature a pop-up kitchen of Eat Me, one of Bangkok’s most celebrated restaurants, from May 19-20. As a part of Sanpellegrino’s Fine Dining Lovers Guest Chef Series, the luxury island resort, blessed with tropical oceans and pristine beaches, will become a two-day culinary sanctuary for Eat Me’s executive chef/co-owner Tim Butler, who will cook up an impressive six-course dinner right on the seaside.

Born in Portland, Maine, Butler lived in New York City and southern California before moving to Bangkok in 2009 and joining Eat Me in 2010 as executive chef. His expertise on modern cuisine with Asian influence has won the restaurant many awards over the years. Eat Me has been rated on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list every year since 2013, occupying the 31 position in 2017. Butler is also involved with Bangkok’s much-lauded Bunker restaurant, and just recently has opened Esenzi progressive seafood restaurant, at Iniala Beach House in Phuket.

Dinner on both days will be set on the coconut-tree-fringed private beach of the five-star resort. The menu will feature the likes of sake granite with sea urchin, yuzu and scallop; hamachi crudo; charred squid with chorizo and capsicum; seared Omi beef tataki-style; smoked beef tongue with tripe and black garlic aioli; and hazelnut and chocolate dessert.

Saturday, May 20, will see the fashion-show debut of Alix bodysuit from New York City at the resort’s Woobar, from 5.30pm, together with a live DJ and cocktails.

The dinner is priced at 2,900 baht per person for food only, and 4,100 baht with pairing wines from Italy, France, Australia and Argentina. For more information and reservations, call W Koh Samui at 081-956-7878, or email peeraya.pibool@whotels.com.
