Theo Mio welcomes celebrity founder Randall
Theo Mio Italian Kitchen at InterContinental Bangkok is to welcome its celebrity founder Chef Theo Randall on May 17-20. Opened in 2015, Theo Mio is the London celebrity chef ’s first outlet outside the UK. Despite being a Brit, Randall, with more than 25 years of experience in some of the world’s best kitchens, has garnered many culinary awards for his dexterity in Italian cooking, including a Michelin star in 1997.
The restaurant focuses on exciting seasonal menus created from top quality local ingredients as well as hand-picked Italian produce. Randall brings his love of fine Italian food to Theo Mio, where the ingredients are celebrated in dishes that allow diners to explore and enjoy a culinary journey that is both fun and relaxed. His four-day visit will be marked with a sumptuous five-course wine dinner on May 17, 18 and 20.
The dinner, priced at 3,800 baht per person, starts off with burrata with speck and peas sott’olio complemented by Chardonnay-Sauvignon Pietragrande, Tenute Lunelli, Trentino, 2015. It is followed by handmade squid ink cavatelli with braised cuttlefish, cherry tomato and oregano to match with Bellone, Casale del Giglio, Lazio, 2015.
The seafood course is represented by barramundi and prawn skewer with eggplant, tomato and pesto trapanese. To give the dish a great complement is Nero d’Avola, Baglio del Cristo di Campobello, Sicily, 2015.
Slow cooked beef short rib with grilled trevisse and balsamic, which is paired with Brunello di Montalcino, Tenute Renieri, Toscany, 2010, is the main course of the evening. While strawberries with crema di mascarpone and almond croccante dessert together with Primo Assagio grappa Bottega (aged in barrique) promises to sweetly wrap up the meal.
On the evening of Friday, May 19, there’s an exclusive cocktail party with live music, live cooking stations showcasing the chef’s well-acclaimed creations and plenty of elegant cocktails. Price is 800 baht per person.
