Paint for mankind
New-generation artists are invited to enter the Panasonic Contemporary Painting Competition: For The Happiness Of Mankind to vie for cash prizes and Panasonic products worth more than 500,000 baht.
Held under the theme “Creativity Of A Wholesome Life” by Panasonic Siew Sales (Thailand) and the Fine Arts Department, the 19th edition of the competition accepts paintings of any style but these should express the artists’ creativity and generate positive thinking among viewers.
Contestants must be Thai and residing in Thailand, and each is allowed to submit up to three works. However, entries must not have entered any other contests or been showcased elsewhere, and size should not exceed 2m (including frame).
A panel of distinguished judges includes Prof Emeritus Kamchorn Soonpongsri, Thongchai Rakpathum, Prof Decha Varachun, Prof Ithipol Thangchalok, Prof Preecha Thaotong and Prof Kiettisak Chanonnart.
Entries can be submitted today and tomorrow at six venues throughout Thailand: Chiang Mai University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, Mahasarakham University’s Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Burapha University’s Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Thaksin University’s Faculty of Fine Arts in Songkhla and Nakhon Sri Thammarat College of Fine Arts. In Bangkok, the National Gallery on Chao Fa Road will be accepting entries from June 1-2.
Winners will be announced on June 9 at www.panasonic.com/th and the award-presentation ceremony will be held during the exhibition at the National Gallery Bangkok, from Aug 3-27.
