Cyclone Mora, packing winds of up to 117 km/h struck Bangladesh last Tuesday and killed at least six people near Cox’s Bazar and Chittagong. “In some places, almost every shanty, home made of tin, bamboo and plastic, has been flattened,” community leader Abdus Salam said. Authoritie­s evacuated hundreds of thousands of people to shelters, schools and government offices. Fishing boats and other vessels were advised to stay under cover. Flights to the area were also cancelled.
