Amazing Thai food made fun

Authentic cuisine of Thailand will be presented through many fun-filled activities during the Amazing Thai Taste Festival, which will take place in the area around Airport Rail Link Makkasan Station this Thursday and Friday from 4-10pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 2-10pm.

Held under the “From Street Food To Royal Cuisine” concept by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), this is a first-of-its-kind event wherein visitors will indulge in the very best of Thai cuisine from famous street food stalls, fine-dining restaurant­s and certified local eateries, as well as witness traditiona­l cooking methods and innovative recipes.

The characteri­stics of Thai cuisine will be showcased in many distinctiv­e zones.

The Local Food zone gathers local delicacies from every part of Thailand, the Street Food zone introduces popular food shops in Bangkok, the Local Fruit zone features a variety of seasonal fruits, the Food Innovation zone presents the latest innovation­s in the food industry, and the Thai Herb and Organic zone features various local herbs, rice varieties and processed rice products.

At least 20 food trucks will be serving their signature dishes at the Food Truck zone, while the Foodie Tour zone will offer travel packages and delicious routes to famous restaurant­s around the country. Each day will also see cooking demonstrat­ions of dishes from around the country, cooking shows by Thai celebrity chefs, workshops, culinary competitio­ns and sale of fresh ingredient­s including herbs, fruits and vegetables.

Many stars and celebritie­s will also present goodies from their own shops.

The festival is part of the Amazing Thai Taste campaign to promote Thai food and encourage both Thais and foreign visitors to discover distinct Thai tastes. There is no admission fee.
