Drama without rights
Certain authorities and the media have been “Bollywooding” three young women involved in the death of another young woman by constructing a media circus. But more importantly this parade obfuscates a major slip — that of avoiding such staged dramas that deprive people of their rights — something police some time ago said they would forego. Where are the lawyers for the accused? Forcing anyone to reenact a crime is a violation of their human rights. If guilty, yes, such crimes are despicable and deserve punishment. But parading people before the public merely generates public sympathy with law-enforcement processes.
Is it moral, ethical and internationally legal to reenact such crimes and reinforce guilt by staged questioning by the police?
