Lovebirds, have you ever wanted to discuss wedding rings over coffee and a waffle? Perhaps not, but if you do now, there’s a unique cafe set up just for such a happy occasion!

Ring Cafe by Lumiere in Baan Silom on Silom Soi 19 is the marriage between a jewellery store and a Japanese/French cafe, run by two sisters — Anyarat “Bell” and Waranya “Net” Phornchindarak. The idea behind it was that a jewellery store alone could be intimidating and people usually wouldn’t drop by such an establishment every day (unless they have bags of money). However, mix in a cafe and the whole venue becomes so much more inviting. It has a clean, white and minimal interior and a selection of snacks you can choose from.

The main offerings include coffees, waffles, Italian sodas and sandwiches. There are also some seasonal offerings which are obviously inspired by Japan, such as the cherry blossom and sweet potato drinks.

We were off to a so-so start with Be my latte (B129 hot or cold). It’s basically an espresso with a layer of purple potato in liquid form and a sprinkle of rose petals on top. It was a nice concoction without a bitter aftertaste but it wasn’t a wow. Despite its name, Sweet potato latte (B110 hot, B125 cold) contains no caffeine. The purple drink was refreshing, milky and mildly sweet with a sweet potato hint. If you want to make your drink more Instagrammable, pay an extra B20 to add cotton candy on top.

Ham cheese panini (B135) comes with a side of fresh oak leaves. The bread tasted like it was homemade after every crunchy bite. They keep the stuffing simple so expect some zesty bursts of fresh tomato and onion rings in a delectable contrast to cheddar and ham.

Served à la mode, Sea salt caramel fluffy waffle (B195) was quite the delight, especially if you don’t like sugary things. The waffle had a crunchy exterior while the inside remained fluffy and, in each block of it, you can fit in a banana slice drizzled with salt caramel, streusel, homemade vanilla ice cream and a mini mint leaf to get optimum impact.

Early birds can enjoy a croissant set (with an americano for B100 or with a cappuccino or latte for B120) from 8:30am - 10am. The rings on offer are designed for various occasions from everyday use to weddings and anniversaries. Ring Cafe alone i sn’t enough of a draw, but you may want to drop by anyway, given its location in Baan Silom arcade where there are many tenants worth checking out. If you work or live in the area, we reckon Ring Cafe is a nice place to chill out and perk up your afternoon with some snacks and coffee.
