WHAT TO DO IF YOU WANT TO HIRE MIGRANTS.

1 • July 24-August 7: Employers submit a request for a Letter of Demand at the migrant worker screening centre in each province.

• After August 7: Screening process, issuance of Letter of Demand for employers. Employers, accompanie­d by their employees, submit the Letter of Demand requesting nationalit­y verificati­on at one of the six Nationalit­y Verificati­on Centres in Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, Chiang Rai, Ranong and Tak provinces; request Certificat­ion of Identity (CI), visa and work permit.

2 In cases when employees have returned to their home country:

• Same process at the employer’s end.

• Employees are required to have their passport and only return through the Labour Ports of Entry Centres in Mae Sot (Tak province), Nong Khai or Sa Kaeo.

3 Prospectiv­e employers who do not currently have migrant employees can sign up for a recruitmen­t quota at the provincial employment office. The designated migrant workers will come according to the government­s’ memorandum­s of understand­ing.

Required documents: • ID/proof of legal entity registrati­on of employers.

• Name, two photos for each employee and other supporting documents if available.

Fees: • Request for Certificat­ion of Identity (CI) for the workers ( 300-baht fee for a Myanmar worker, to be confirmed for Lao and Cambodians).

Visa: 500 baht

Work permit: • 100 baht for a request form, 450 baht for half-year/ 900 baht for a year.
