Team Hollywood claim two victories in Phuket

-

>> PHUKET: A fresh 10 knots of wind greeted the sailors yesterday for Day Two of the Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek, as the 350 competitors and 41 boats enjoyed some close sailing off the southeast coast of Phuket.

Mixing it up, Race Officer Simon James gave the racing boats two races — a windward/leeward and a passage race — while the cruising classes were sent around the islands on a long, single race.

The Australian team, led by Ray Roberts, on Team Hollywood had a successful day on the water, outsailing the 40-footers and claiming two wins while the improving Loco (SIN) finished the day with a 3,2 scoreline and a move up the standings.

Sixth places for Rerefine (AUS) and East Marine Emagine (AUS) hurt both of their series scores and with just two points separating second to fourth place there is still plenty to play for in the final two days of the series.

In IRC II Phoneix (DEN) added two more wins to their score but just seconds separated them from the allfemale crew on Sailescapes Farrgo Ladies who’s two second places keep them in the hunt while Krabi Boat Lagoon Piccolo sit in third overall.

It was all change in the Cruising class as new-comer to Asia, Who Dares Wins (GBR), claimed their first win of the series.

In the multihull divisions, a 1,2 for Asia Catamarans Hurricane in Multihull Racing saw them secure a three point series lead ahead of Thor (GBR) and Java (CHN) in third. In Multihull Cruising, another win for DaVinci (AUS) saw them take a one-point advantage over Mojo (AUS).

The award-winning Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek continues today at Cape Panwa Hotel.
