DECODING DAN BROWN

-

From humble beginnings as a songwriter and creative writing teacher, Dan Brown is now one of the best-known novelists. The appeal of his writing comes from his commitment to in-depth research and meticulous study that would be turned into highly addictive stories. The Da Vinci Code, which has sold of 60.5 million copies worldwide since 2003, has led to studies and treasure hunts based on his theories of occult conspiracies, and it has also sparked a craze for conspiracy thrillers. Though Brown is a high-grossing writer, he is not one to churn out one book right after the other. It therefore comes as no surprise that there is always a hype among fans every time there is news of a new Dan Brown book. On Oct 3, Brown will unveil to the world his latest literary work titled Origin as the fifth instalment in the Robert Langdon series. This time Brown interweaves symbols, code-breaking, science and modern art, all the while inviting the reader to search for the origin of mankind. The key words that the best selling author has given to media around the world include, “Where do we come from?”, and “Where are we going?”. On the first day that the new book’s teaser clip was published on Brown’s fan page, it got 1 million views and 15,000 shares, a tumultuous positive response after the four-year hiatus since his last book Inferno. Continuing on with his thriller novel wonders, this time Brown brings to life the mysteriously intriguing billionaire Edmond Kirsch with a passion for futurism, hightech inventions, and predictions of the world’s happenings over time. Kirsch is also one of the first students Robert Langdon taught at Harvard. Brown’s latest story takes place mainly in the Guggenheim Museum in the city of Bilbao, Spain, with parts happening in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and Bilbao itself.
