The SET50 Index closed last week at 1,064.27 points, an increase of 18.01 points or 1.72% from the previous week. The most traded SET50 Futures contract S50V17 (expiring in October 2017) was settled at 1 065.00 points, an increase of 20.9 points or 2% from the previous week.

The US stock market hit a fresh record as the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed above 22,000 points for the first time in nearly a month, as Florida was spared from the catastroph­ic damage that many had forecast from Hurricane Irma. Even the launch of another North Korean missile over Japanese territory on Friday appeared to have little impact on US investor sentiment. The Dow closed up 65 points on Friday to finish the week at 22,268.34, an increase of 2.1% from 21,797.79 the week before. The S&P 500 closed above 2,500 for the first time and gained 1.6% on the week.

The Thai stock market continued its upward momentum throughout the week as it moved to its highest level in more than 23 years, driven by heavy foreign fund flows over the past two weeks. The SET Index rose 1.43 points on Friday to finish the week at 1,660.53, an increase of 1.5% from the week before.

On the TFEX, daily average trading volume was 459,873 contracts, a decrease of 934 contracts or 0.2% from the previous week. The most actively traded product was Single Stock Futures with 1,317,243 contracts, or 263,449 per day. Total market open interest was 2,475,826 contracts, an increase of 99,871 or 4.2% from the previous week.
