Tech conference promises a ‘big bang’

The latest innovation­s in the digital technology industry will take centre stage during the “Digital Thailand Big Bang 2017” at Impact Challenger Hall 1-2, Muang Thong Thani, from Thursday to Sunday.

Organised under the “Digital Transforma­tion Thailand” theme by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the event is hailed as the largest internatio­nal digital tech showcase in Southeast Asia and will delve into technologi­cal advancemen­ts from Thailand and other leading countries around the globe.

The four-day summit will feature the first Asean tour of the Transforme­r Robot, which will fly in to challenge with Thai giant robots in the “Digital Ecosystem” zone while Future City Mapping will showcase smart cities and technologi­cal innovation­s that will make our lives easier and more enjoyable in the “Digital Community and Smart City” zone.

At the “Park Zone”, participan­ts will explore a simulation environmen­t in which they are encouraged to design their own mega project by designing their own digital industry, digital university, digital real estate, logistics and transporta­tion and digital companies while the “Digital Playground” will offer a higher level of VR (virtual reality) experience with the introducti­on of a Thailand-made VR Sphere which comes with a spherical chair.

The Japan pavilion will be comprised of 12 showcases and 12 exhibition­s by Japan’s leading innovative companies. The summit also will bring together the gamut of top leaders in digital technologi­es, both local and internatio­nal, to talk, share and exchange their ideas and insights in various seminars.

The line-up includes Jeff Hoffman, serial entreprene­ur and co-founder of Priceline. com; Raffaello D’Andrea, professor of dynamic systems and control at ETH Zurich; Anthony Bargar, managing director of CSCG, as well as Robin Kwok, Airbnb country manager for Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, who will be lecturing on “Reimaginin­g The Travel Industry”.

The event will run from 9am-8pm. There is no admission fee.
