A sinister asylum rendered spooky

- Call 02-105-1000.

Thrill seekers are invited to have their bravery tested during the “Mega Ghost Festival: Welcome To Asylum Hospital” fair which will be held at Megabangna, Bang Na-Trat Road, from Thursday to Sept 30.

Held under the “Haunted Asylum” theme, the fifth edition of the spooky fair will simulate the atmosphere of a legendary psychiatric hospital built in the US in 1854. The story about this mental institution has it that the most terrifying people there were not the criminal patients but Dr Cotton and Head Nurse Jane, who treated the patients with cruel and horrific methods that no human being could bear and that eventually took a lot of patients’ lives.

Covering 700m², the hospital mock-up will consist of a dark cell, an operating room and other realistic settings. Interested visitors with daring minds will be challenged to search for the hidden sedative to vie for prizes worth more than 100,000 baht.

To enhance the hair-raising experience, a special movie, titled Welcome To Asylum Hospital, will be screened to bring the appalling story to life and create a thrill that will make some in the audience nearly stop breathing.

In this short film, lasting two minutes, Chakrit Yamnam plays Dr Cotton, the horrifying psychiatrist who invited the ill-treatment that mentally and physically tortured the patients, while Irada Siriwut takes the role of Jane, the malicious head nurse who took the lives of 31 patients under her care.

Tickets cost 250 baht per person (100 baht for students). Those under 13 years of age are not allowed.
