Intensive training courses for those interested in VR technology
Virtual reality (VR) technology is expected to become an important trend, attracting an increasingly mainstream audience, and not just as a form of entertainment. The technology will be increasingly used in several sectors, including medicine, education, security, culture and tourism.
To capture this growing technology, the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (Depa) has supported intensive training courses for the Thai workforce.
Depa has introduced the “Visual Interactive Storytelling Workshops And Internship” programme under the concept of “VR Inventors” to promote human resources for VR technology in the digital industry in Thailand.
According to Depa deputy director Chatchai Kunpitiruk, today’s workforce is not highly skilled in VR use, but the technology has rapidly become popular and widely utilised. Depa thus serves as a centre, drawing experts in the field to transfer knowledge and experience, training the workforce and helping them go abroad to learn more. Those who participate in the programme are required to create a piece of work in the final course. The programme is now open to new graduates and those who have passed a bachelor’s degree, high vocational certificates or technical certificates and are interested in digital content and application development with VR technology. Applicants should have basic knowledge in computer programming, digital art or have experience in digital content creation. Applications are open until Oct 10.
Eighty applicants will be selected to be trained by top VR experts in Thailand from November to December this year on the topics of “Introduction To Virtual Reality And VR Content Development”, “Content Creation Techniques”, “Animation And Audio”, “Designing Content For VR” and “Creating Smooth VR Experience”.
In the end, only 10 teams will be selected to visit leading global VR companies for five days, and train for 30 days. They are then required to create a project based on the assigned subject so that the final five teams present their work in April next year.
