WE MISS OUR KING (CentralFes­tival Chiang Mai, 11am-8pm,

until tomorrow) Held in remembranc­e of King Bhumibol, the “We Miss Our King, The Father To The Nation” event features many activities including a workshop on how to make plastercas­t large coins portraying the late monarch that runs four times a day starting at 11am, a showcase of a sunlight-responsive sculpture that can create the image of the late king, a painting exhibition by art students and national artists, and a live music performanc­e featuring his royal compositio­ns daily in the evening. Visitors are invited to decorate a giant platform designed in the shape of the Thai numeral nine with marigolds and learn to screen-print a T-shirt with the “We Miss Our King” message, designed by famous Lanna artists. PLANT FLOWERS FOR OUR FATHER (Marigold garden,

Ratchadaph­isek 8, 3pm-9pm, until Oct 31) People are invited to plant marigolds as a flowery tribute to King Bhumibol at the “Sweat Drop Of The King Garden”. Covering 30 rai, the urban garden project is divided into many parts including a rice field filled with golden rice plants, a sun hemp field, a clarifier, an exhibition area showcasing many royally initiated projects and the late king’s properties, an activity area featuring the flowering and ornamental plant exhibition, and an open area for farmers from the Northeast to sell their plants and agricultur­al products.
