CONTEMPORARY INTERPRETATION OF MOZART’S LEGENDARY REQUIEM

- Call 02-661-6470—3.

Pro Musica will start the year with “Requiem Without Words”, a contemporary interpretation of Mozart’s legendary last and unfinished work, at Siam Society, Asok Road, on Jan 23 at 7pm.

Requiem In D Minor, K 626 was left incomplete at his death on Dec 5, 1791. In his final days, Mozart declared that he was composing the requiem for himself, and on the last day of his life he was explaining to his assistant how he intended to finish the work.

In order to make the larger-scale pieces available, Peter Lichtenthal of Milan carefully arranged the requiem for string quartet. This concentrated arrangement provides a different manner of approaching the piece.

Comprised of Tasana Nagavajara (violin), Cheryl Chan (violin), Omporn Kowintha (viola) and Esther Ho (violoncello), the Pro Musica Ensemble will collaborate with veteran choreographer Jitti Chompee of 18 Monkeys dance theatre to take the adventurous journey deep into the world of the dead.

Prior to the Bangkok show, the string quartet and the dance troupe will perform at Dusit Thani Hua Hin, Phetchaburi, on Friday at 6.30pm.

It will be part of the hotel’s Culinary Classics 2018 series, with tickets priced at 1,600 and 1,800 baht, including dinner (600 baht for the show only). Email dthhfb@dusit. com or call 032-520-009 ext 2013.

Tickets for the Jan 23 performance cost 600 baht (100 baht for students). Email info@ siam-society.org or promusica.bkk@gmail. com. The concert will feature the harmony of classical music and contemporary dance.
