Breeder left snarling by medic scam

- POST REPORTERS

More than 10 dog breeders will lay an animal cruelty complaint against a doctor for allegedly administering harmful drugs to a rare Pomeranian pedigree dog which damaged the animal’s eyesight and caused severe facial disfiguration.

The dog was bought from a breeder in Chumphon.

The breeders claim the doctor deliberately disfigured the male dog to claim a new one after it was used as a stud as part of his own dog breeding enterprise.

Udomsak Sakulpradit, 31, who operates Dog Land Mark, a dog breeding business in Chumphon’s Lang Suan district, yesterday said he and more than 10 other dog breeders would submit evidence with Watch Dog Thailand (WDT) today.

The WDT, a dog protection group, will l odge the police complaint against the doctor on their behalf.

Mr Udomsak said other breeders had received similar claims for new dogs from the doctor who works at a hospital in Bangkok. The doctor’s name was not revealed.

The cruelty complaint comes after the doctor contacted Mr Udomsak via his Facebook page to buy a two-yearold Pomeranian from the breeder six months ago for 100,000 baht.

Mr Udomsak said the dog was a chocolate Pomeranian, a rare breed from overseas verified by a pedigree certificate.

Four months later, the doctor contacted him again requesting a change of dog, claiming something was wrong with the original animal’s appearance.

The breeder said the doctor also posted photos of the dog and messages on his Facebook page which damaged his credibility.

Mr Udomsak later agreed to have the Pomeranian returned.

However, after the animal was returned he found the Pomeranian’s face was distorted and was visually impaired due to the injection of chemical substances.

He said the dog was unable to walk or run normally because of its poor eyesight.
