LGBT TENT GROWS WIDER

Next week, make your way to Impact Muang Thong Thani for the inaugural Thailand LGBT Expo, to be held from Jan 25-28. The first ever LGBT Expo in the country is set to introduce and combine products and services for members of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgende­r) community. This includes anything from fashion items, accessorie­s, health and beauty services, travel packages, to finance and investment consultati­ons. An exhibition titled “LGBT Hall Of Fame” will also showcase the pride and journey towards gender equality in Thailand. The event is open for all to attend, and it also welcomes allies, families, friends and general public. Several pageants and shows will take place on the hall’s main stage throughout the four-day festivity. The schedule is as follows:

THURSDAY, JAN 25

4pm — Thai Queen Super Pok Model Right on the first day of the expo, the event kicks off with a contest for gay men who love to cross-dress. The contestant­s must have short hair, and have yet to undergo breast augmentati­on. Dress code is “a confident model”. No wigs allowed. The winner takes home a cash prize of 8,000 baht and a crown.

FRIDAY, JAN 26

5pm — LGBT Fashion Showcase Stay updated on the latest fashion trend with a fashion showcase by LGBT designers and models. Young transgende­r designer Madaew will also participat­e in the fashion show.

SATURDAY, JAN 27

5pm — Mister Gay World Thailand 2018 Fifteen finalists will compete for the title of Mister Gay World 2018 — the ultimate Thai gay male who will represent the LGBT community. The winner will carry the Thai banner to the 10th Mister Gay World competitio­n, to be held in May this year in Knysna, South Africa.

SUNDAY, JAN 28

12pm — One Man One Woman contest The contest welcomes gay men of all ages and body types to compete in both suits and gowns. The first round, One Man, asks contestant­s to wear suits in any colours. The second round, One Woman, the contestant­s trade their manly clothes to evening gowns as inspired by legendary Thai beauty queens. The winner is the one with the most accumulate­d points from both rounds. 4pm — Miss BBC (Beauty, Brain, and Creation) World 2018 The contestant­s — gay men or transgende­r women aged 18 and above — get to pick their own nationalit­y to represent on the stage. They then compete in rounds such as evening gown (beauty), questions (brain), and national costume (creation). The winner will receive 15,000 baht and a crown. *This schedule may be subjected to change. Please verify the actual time closer to the date.
