GP ticket buyers to get free Winter Test entry
Teams to try out their new machines in Buri Ram from Feb 16-18
>> Organisers of the 2018 PTT Thailand Grand Prix are offering free entry to next month’s three-day MotoGP Winter Test for ticket buyers of the main event.
The tickets for the Grand Prix at Chang International Circuit in Buri Ram, the first ever MotoGP event to be held in Thailand, went on sale at All Ticket Thailand counters and 7-Eleven outlets yesterday.
The Thailand Grand Prix will take place from Oct 5-7, while the Winter Test will be held from Feb 16-18 at the same track.
The season (three-day) tickets for the Grand Prix are priced at 4,000 baht for Grand Stand, Rossi Stand and Marquez Stand, and 2,000 baht for Side Stand.
Addressing a press conference at the Sports Authority of Thailand headquarters yesterday, former Moto2 rider Ratthapark Wilairot said: “It is a good opportunity for the Thai people to watch the MotoGP for the first time in our country.
“It is an honour that Dorna Sport has given us the right to host the event and also organise the Winter Test in Buri Ram.
“The tickets for the MotoGP event have been very cheap and I think the Thai people should not miss the Grand Prix and the Winter Test, where teams bring along their new motorcycles for tests.”
Moto3 racer Nakarin Atiratphuvapat, currently the only Thai in the motorcycling world championships, said: “I am very proud to get the chance to take part in the Thailand Grand Prix.
“This is a good opportunity for the Thai people to watch a world-class motorsport event in Thailand. I am sure that the atmosphere will be great.”
Those who have the PTT Blue Card will get 25% discount off tag prices.
Customers of Chang and SCB as well as owners of Honda and Yamaha motorcycles will also get special prices.
Meanwhile, former racer Alberto Puig has been appointed manager of MotoGP champions Repsol Honda following the departure of Livio Suppo last year.
The 50-year-old Spaniard was a race winner in 500cc, the category that became MotoGP, with Honda in 1995 at his home grand prix.
