Taiwan Design Center has brought over 30 creations for a sustainable future from leading Taiwanese designers to showcase in Bangkok at the Bowen Hall of Lhong 1919, Chiang Mai Road, until Sunday from 10am to 10pm.

Held under the theme “Big little t: RE/solution”, the exhibition brings the idea that “we are small, should be smart”, which translates in using the genius of a small nation to tackle the issue of scarce resources through technological innovations, circular economy and service design.

The creations are displayed along a three-themed path — “Change On The Way”, “Live Again” and “Design For Tomorrow”. All participating brands from Taiwan utilise a range of materials and technology in line with their environmental and sustainability credo such as stone, leather, fibre and stainless steel, to design a brighter future with a fashionable lifestyle.

The first step in the design journey, “Change On The Way”, focuses on the design that inspires us to change the way of life, including our habits, and find an alternative resolution for life. Featured items include stone products from JIA Inc, stools from Yung Shing Furniture, stainless steel toothbrushes from Radial Round, stationary containers made from plastic bags from Plastico and leather accessories from Chic Design Studio.

On the aspects of innovation on material transformation, the “Live Again” prepares visitors to turn today’s wastes into tomorrow’s raw materials. Reflecting the notion are creations by Truegrasses, Renato Lab, Studio ShiKai, MUMU Handmade and Singtex Industrial.

Portraying “usefulness”, which is the essence of design, the “Design For Tomorrow” utilises design to effectively collect and allocate resources, avoiding wastes. The philosophy also focuses on designing the process rather than the product as seen in the products from Dream

Vok, Dare Bikes, CviCloud Corporation, DOTdesign and Yen Sun Technology Corp.

The exhibition is part of the “Bangkok Design Week 2018”, which sees a myriad of exhibitions and activities running at many creative places across Bangkok until Sunday.

There is no admission fee. Lhong 1919 is a lifestyle space located on the Klong San side of Chao Phraya River.
