Terminal 21 transforms into famous Hong Kong temple
Terminal 21 invites Thais of Chinese descent to celebrate the Lunar New Year in the atmosphere of Hong Kong’s famous temple, Che Kung, during Chinese New Year 2018, from tomorrow to Feb 18. The 10-day celebration will take visitors to explore the replica of the renowned temple built in dedication to Che Kung, a military commander of the Southern Song dynasty in ancient China.
Visitors are also invited to spin a replica of the sacred fan-bladed wheel of fortune which worshippers believe will bring good luck when turned three times. With this signature feature, the temple is also called Windmill Temple.
The fair will also be held at other three shopping malls — Fashion Island and the Promenade Ramindra in Bangkok and Terminal 21 Korat in Nakhon Ratchasima. Especially at Fashion Island, replicas of sacred gods known for their meritorious legends of good deeds will be brought from China to be housed there for local worshippers to pray for blessings.
They include Bhaisajyaguru, or the Buddha of healing and medicine; Guanyin Bodhisattava of a thousand arms and eyes; Yue Lao, or god of marriage and love; Erlang Shen, or god with a third truth-seeing eye in the middle of his forehead, along with his Howling Celestial Dog; and Caishen, or god of prosperity.
There will also be acrobatic shows by the Wuqiao Acrobatic Troupe and the Henan Acrobatic Troupe from China. They will take turns performing at all four shopping malls this weekend, and again from Feb 16-18, at least three rounds a day starting at 1pm.
There is no admission fee. Call 02-108-0888 or visit terminal21.co.th.
