Japanese nabbed for kiddy porn
A Japanese real estate businessman has been nabbed for allegedly possessing and distributing photos and video clips of sexually abused boys after a five-month search for his whereabouts.
He has been charge with making, possessing and distributing lewd photos and clips of underage children and uploading them onto the computer.
Police investigators raided the apartment of Tomohiro Ogawa on Sukhumvit Soi 31 yesterday and found a large number of photos of the boys aged 13-14 saved on his mobile phones and computers, Immigration Bureau deputy chief Pol Maj Gen Itthiphon It this an ronnachai said after the arrest.
The video clips are being analysed to determine if they were recorded in Thailand, he said. “Some of the boys look Thai,” an embassy official said.
An initial investigation found the 44-year-old suspect is one of 16 members of a group chat on the messaging app Line. They are wanted by Japanese authorities for using the app to share photos and clips promoting sexual harassment, he said.
Twelve members of the group have been arrested and three remain at large in the wake of Mr Ogawa’s arrest. He has been staying in Thailand on a business visa since 2013.
The suspect denied any wrongdoing but police have enough evidence to implicate him, Pol Maj Gen Itthiphon said. He was arrested in Japan for buying child sex services and received a fine.
