Sek Loso in court no show
NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: Rock star Sek Loso yesterday failed to appear in court for proceedings relating to firearms charges levelled against him.
His lawyer, Mongkolvijit Dhanasophon, said the singer was unable to report to the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Court as he was dealing with a personal matter in Bangkok.
The 43-year-old singer, whose real name is Seksan Sookpimay, was scheduled to report to the court which was to rule on his third detention period yesterday.
The lawyer later submitted a request to postpone the hearing to next Tuesday. The court approved the request. Seksan is charged with unauthorised possession of a firearm and ammunition and carrying a firearm in public after he fired a handgun into the air at a temple in the southern province’s Prommakhiri district on Dec 29.
Besides the shooting incident, the rock star has also acknowledged a charge of drug use after a urine test showed traces of methamphetamine and ecstasy in his system. He reported to Kannayao station in Bangkok last month.
He has denied the charges, insisting the drugs he used were prescribed by doctors. Seksan said earlier he was taking prescribed medication to treat bipolar disorder. He also said police did not find any drugs or paraphernalia at his house in Bangkok’s Bang Khen district when they arrested him for firing the handgun in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
