Kerry Express in Tops tie-up
Tops Daily mini supermarket will partner with Kerry Express to provide nationwide next-day delivery services in selected branches of the nationwide supermarket chain.
Customers will be able to drop off packages for next-day delivery at 47 Tops Daily branches nationwide by the end of this month.
The programme will be expanded to 70 branches after the pilot run.
“Tops Daily has introduced a number of concept services to its branches,” said Phattaraporn Phenpraphat, executive vice-president of Central Food Retail.
The company’s “Go Green” concept promotes environmental friendliness, energy saving and reducing plastic usage.
Tops Daily added a co-working space with free WiFi, mobile phone and USB chargers, a breakfast corner, copy/fax/ print services and CenPay bill payment.
“Kerry Express is the ideal partner to echo these concepts, as its extensive network allows it to provide outstanding services at very competitive prices,” Ms Phattaraporn said.
The partnership is a response to demand from young entrepreneurs, online sellers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) looking for more convenient service points to deliver their parcels, such as nearby areas with parking space where they can talk to customers.
“They are also looking for a company that can provide reliable next-day nationwide delivery and cash-on-delivery services,” Ms Phattaraporn said.
Kerry Express delivery service starts at 35 baht. A special promotion will run from March 19 to 25 offering free parcel boxes to the first 10 customers at each store every day.
“Kerry Express has a big expansion plan in Thailand,” said Michael Choi, director and general manager of the company. “We are very happy to partner with Central Food Retail, and we believe Tops Daily is only the beginning. The group’s vision in serving online entrepreneurs and SMEs coincides very much with this belief. We trust that social commerce has an important future in Thailand.”
Kerry Express has a network of over 1,500 service points, 600 distribution centres and over 12,000 delivery vehicles in Thailand. Its next-day delivery service covers 99.9% of the Thai population.
The company plans to invest at least 1 billion baht in 2018 and to employ 6,000 more people, Mr Choi said.
