His self-titled debut album released in 2012 topped both the UK and Scottish album charts and ranked at No.3 on the Irish album chart. A year later, his second album, Shangri La, made its way to No.2 and 3 on the Scottish and UK album charts, respectively.

His third, largely self-produced album On My One, released in 2016, ranked No.4 on both the UK and Scottish album charts while his latest album, Hearts That Strain, released last September saw him record with some of the biggest names in the history of popular music, including The Memphis Boys, Gene Chrisman, Bobby Woods, Dusty Springfield, Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick. He also launched a piano-laden new song with American actress and singer Noah Cyrus, younger sister of Miley Cyrus.

Bugg embarked on a world tour in November, performing throughout the UK and US as well as stops in Switzerland, Australia Japan, Singapore, Germany, Ireland and Denmark.
