Located

on the bank of Tha Chin River, the resort is set behind the Woodland Museum. The owner Narong Thewphaingarm has turned his vacation home to accept guests shortly after the museum opened in 2015.

The resort offers 20 rooms, a swimming pool, two meeting rooms and will add a riverside restaurant, café and another 16 rooms in the future.

ATMOSPHERE

Although it felt eerie to spend a night in the huge property with collections of old wood, I felt more relaxed after waking up to the chirp of birds and sunrise over the river. I also saw many Asian openbill storks on the other side of the river.

LOCATION

The property is about 20km from Nakhon Pathom’s landmark — Wat Phra Pathom Chedi. It is not far from Wat Suwannaram where you can board a boat to cruise along Klong Mahasawat. The local road passing the resort is not in a good condition. Drive carefully.

CLEANLINESS

Towels are fresh and bedsheets are white. My room floor was dust free, but I found a piece of tissue paper left on the floor of a bathroom connecting to my bedroom and black stains on the walls of another bathroom.

SERVICE QUALITY

The hotel staff named Puk is friendly, informative and has a service mind. She is the one who stays overnight on the property and is the contact person who takes care of guests from checking in to checking out.

FACILITIES

My suite was huge with a large living room, kitchenette and two bathrooms, but it looks old and needs better maintenance, especially the bathrooms and window locks in the living room. There is only one AC power socket in the bedroom and no Wi-Fi service.

F&B

There is only one restaurant and it is open from 8.30am to 5pm daily. Guests need to have dinner outside. For breakfast, the boiled rice soup with chicken was delicious. I ordered a Thai-style omelette, but I found a little piece of green fibre of a scrub pad in it.

GUEST SAFETY

Security guards are on duty 24 hours. I couldn’t find CCTV cameras in the public area of the resort although there were plenty of security cameras inside the Woodland Museum. A fire extinguisher was placed next to my room.

ENVIRONMENTAL & SOCIAL CONCERNS

The air-conditioner in my bedroom was old and not energy efficient. Bathroom amenities are in plastic containers, but drinking water is provided in glass bottles. There is no sign to ask guests to help save water and electricity or to reuse towels.

SPA

The resort does not have spa service.
