History in favour of Buriram

- TOR CHITTINAND

Thai League 1 leaders Buriram United aim to bounce back when they host Nakhon Ratchasima today.

The defending champions suffered their first defeat in the league this season on Sunday when they lost 1-0 to Chiang Rai United.

Buriram assistant manager Sirichai Kimoto said yesterday: “You can’t win every match and Chiang Rai United deserved the win. We have to regain fitness and confidence quickly.

“We will be at home so we must perform and win the match against Nakhon Ratchasima.”

History is on their side as the Thunder Castle have never lost to the Swat Cats at Chang Arena.

Buriram will be without their top striker Diogo Luis Santo, who is suspended after collecting four yellow cards.

Their strikeforce is likely to be led by Edgar Bruno, another Brazilian forward.

Meanwhile, Buriram have re-signed Philippines forward Javier Patino.

He played for Buriram from 2013 to 2015 before joining Chinese club Henan Jianye.

Struggling giants Muang Thong United will meet Police Tero.

Muang Thong caretaker coach Santi Chaipuek said: “The game against Police Tero will be a difficult one because they have had good results since they changed their coach.

“We just can’t underestimate them.” Following a good run as caretaker coach of Police Tero, Rangsan Viwatchaichok was yesterday appointed coach of the team.

“I am very happy to become coach of the team. I will do my best to help Police Tero avoid relegation,’’ he said.
