Innovative architecture on display
A myriad of architectural designs and international innovative building materials will be displayed during Architect Expo 2018 at Impact Challenger Hall 1-3, Muang Thong Thani, from May 1-6, 10am-8pm.
Hailed as the biggest exhibition of architectural technology and building materials in Southeast Asia, the expo’s 32nd edition will feature state-of-the-art products and innovative construction technology, architecture-related materials, interior designs and landscape architecture from 850 exhibitors from many countries, including Australia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, China, the US and Vietnam.
Top exhibitors will hold a forum to display their products, demonstrate their functions and provide in-depth information about their products. Visitors are also invited to join seminars conducted by international keynote speakers.
Organised under the theme “Beyond Ordinary” by the Association of Siamese Architects under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty and TTF International, the expo will focus on the role and transition of architectural and local designs in the Thai contemporary lifestyle, featuring knowledge inherited from the past and design themes utilising local materials practical for future use.
This is the first time renowned architects and designers and many groups of young architects will get together to discuss Thai contemporary architecture and interpret the idea of “vernacular living”.
New perspectives on Thailand’s vernacular architecture will then be presented through various exhibitions and activities at the five halls: Living Space Pavilion, Working Space Pavilion, Meeting Space Pavilion, Moving System Pavilion and Introduction Pavilion.
Another highlight will be the academic seminar ASA Forum 2018, featuring prominent architects and designers from Thailand and all over the world on May 5 and 6. The line-up includes Manuelle Gautrand, winner of the European Prize for Architecture from France; Yung Ho Chang, member of the Pritzker Architecture Prize committee; David Van Severen, an architect from Officekgvs studio in Belgium; and Han Tümertekin, winner of the Aga Khan Award from Turkey.
