Major Thai music festival in Pattaya

The famous Bali Hai Pier in Pattaya, Chon Buri, is the venue for the “Thailand Cultural Music Festival”, the country’s first music phenomenon where local and contempora­ry music will first meet this Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 12.45am.

Organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Pattaya City, the festival will gather the biggest number of world-renowned local artists to present their local folk music performanc­es and contempora­ry musical acts.

Scheduled to headline the main stage will be Rasamee Isan Soul, an Isan group that blends local music with jazz, rock, soul; Paradise Bangkok Molam Internatio­nal Band, a hybrid roots band that mixes traditiona­l Thai melodies with blues and folk rock; and Ga-pi and the Thai Dub Mafia presenting a fusion of electro reggae and contempora­ry traditiona­l Thai music.

The line-up also i ncludes Mocca Garden, a modern reggae-ska band featuring Burin Boonvisut and their reggae disco; Thailand’s legendary jazz band Infinity; and Thai rappers Urboy TJ and Day Thaitanium, who will conclude the festival with their special songs.

There will also be three smaller stages presenting more folk music performanc­es by up-and-coming local bands and singers, and street music shows by amateur musicians from across the country.

Besides music, the festival is also an opportunit­y for visitors to indulge in the gastronomy of Pattaya at selected local food shops. There will also be booths for face painting and sticker tattoos.
