Governor bemoans lack of green areas

-

AYUTTHAYA: The provincial governor has called for a tree-planting campaign after learning the province is one of 10 provinces that do not have a forested area.

As today (Visakha Bucha Day) marks National Tree Day, Mr Sujin Chaichumsak, who presided over a tree planting event yesterday, said more trees should be planted in public places including religious sites, schools, along rivers and roads across the province.

“We will plant trees to increase green areas for the province in communities, near houses, schools, and temples in honour of His Majesty the King,” he said, adding that government officials will do so, while the Natural Resources and Environment offices will provide the saplings.
