When alcohol revitalises
In the 1970s, Japanese scientists were looking for the secret to beautiful skin, and stumbled upon it from the making of traditional booze.
From observing youthful-looking hands of wrinkled sake brewers, research delved into finding a single yeast from 350 strains for a similar fermentation process that gives Pitera, SK-II’s signature ingredients.
The Japanese cosmetics brand has been around for almost 40 years. Now under the world’s largest consumer goods company, Procter & Gamble, it has introduced a collection of skincare masterpieces, exclusively available at the Central Chidlom counter.
A bottle of the luxurious Masterpiece Pitera Essence is almost triple the price of the best-selling Facial Treatment Essence, which contains over 90% Pitera — a clear liquid rich in vitamins, amino acids, minerals and organic acids.
What makes the formula more expensive is the golden-hue Pitera, which is in its most condensed form, and the addition of Centella essence and a concentrate from Arakawa youth peach, handpicked and born out of one of the rarest cultivation methods.
Pitera and the Japanese peach are featured in all of the SK-II Masterpiece Pitera products, which include three types of serum for firming, plumping and brightening effect as well as an eye cream and face cream, priced from 9,400 to 18,900 baht, for those with a big beauty budget.
