MYNX UNDER FIRE IN PREGNANCY ROW, NOOM DENIES STRAYING, ARMED FOR BATTLE

Mynx insists she is expecting

A young product presenter who severed ties with the teen TV star who allegedly made her pregnant is under fire on the internet, with critics suggesting she made the whole thing up.

Sawaphat “Mynx” Soonthornan, 23, who earlier this month cut ties with her ex-boyfriend, actor Cholatorn “Captain” Kongyingyong, from the teenage series Love Sick, says both families are satisfied she is carrying Captain’s child, even if she has not carried out tests to prove it. She has turned down his family’s request for a DNA test.

Mynx also admits she has yet to arrange an obstetrician for her unborn child, but says doctors have urged her to wait. She denies claims that she fabricated the pregnancy.

In response to netizens who suggested she had dug up images of a pregnancy testing kit from the internet, Mynx said she carried out the test at her own home, and it confirmed she was indeed pregnant.

Captain’s family, who went before the media with her own when news of the pregnancy leaked on social media, acknowledged the child was his when she confronted them with the news, she said. The two parted ways after he initially failed to come clean about the pregnancy and relations between the families broke down.

While public sympathy initially swung towards Mynx, who was able to show that, contrary to his initial claims, Captain knew about the pregnancy, netizens have since started digging into the young woman’s past, with a lively hashtag on Twitter claiming to have caught her out lying.

Mynx fends off the barbs, though by mid-week was feeling the strain, admitting herself to hospital to deal with a fever.

The youngster, who vows to raise the child alone and wants Captain to keep out of her life until he is ready to assume more responsibility, said she and her mother visited hospital to arrange pre-natal care. However, doctors put her off, as she was only seven weeks’ pregnant.

Earlier, Captain’s manager at TV production company Nadao Bangkok, Jongjit “Bom” Intong, urged Mynx to arrange a specialist, and suggested the public had overlooked the question of whether Captain was indeed the father.

“I have urged her to take both families to get blood test and ultrasound, without success. It’s not good enough for her to go alone and then present the results as proof,” she said.

Italian-Thai model Sarah Casinghini, 22, was among those offering Mynx support on social media as she comes to terms with the likelihood that she will have to raise the child alone. “Ignore the critics, and focus on the ones you love,” she said.

Sarah, who has first-hand experience of being a single mum, raises a son, Maxwell, born to her former love, singer and actor Pirat “Mike” Nitipaisankul. In August 2014 Mike was forced to admit being Maxwell’s father, after Sarah broke the news on social media.

In eerie parallels with the Mynx and Captain saga, Mike faced up to his responsibilities as parent only reluctantly, at first turning down a paternity test, but later agreeing to one to confirm he was the father.

Mynx’s mother, Punnada Chaiyayongyos, said her daughter was starting to feel better after the initial furore, and was throwing herself into work as an internet product presenter. She said Captain’s family had not been in touch since their appearance before the media and she had no wish to expose her daughter to any more stress. The saga continues.

Noom has pesky new admirer

Actress Nicole “Nicky” Theriault and her actor sweetheart, Sornram “Noom” Theappitak, have broken up, with Noom denying claims a “third party” came between them.

Noom broke news of the split last week after reports he emerged he had been seeing beauty queen Thaveepon ‘‘Namfon’’ Areesawat on the sly. Leaked excerpts from a chat emerged in which Noom invited Namfon to his condo, along with a photograph she took in which she is lying with her head against his chest.

Noom said he spoke to Namfon briefly after she and Nicole split up in March. It did not lead anywhere and they were no longer in touch. He said Nicole and he split after failing to reconcile differences. They were still in touch as friends.

However, rumours that Noom was unfaithful persisted after Nicole, posting in response to Noom’s remarks, said cryptically that “all women have instinct ... and my instincts were right”.

Namfon, holder of the Miss Tourism Thailand South-East Asia 2011 title, admitted she had been talking to Noom, but denied breaking up their relationship.

She said Noom had contacted her on Facebook in March to say he and Nicole had parted. She visited him at his condo, but his mother was present. She denied leaking the clip and picture, saying her phone had gone missing. “We stopped talking as a result, but if Noom wants to get back in touch he’s welcome,” she said in a TV appearance.

Namfon has worn the unflattering label of “third hand” before, after being linked to the end of tearaway DJ and actor Paranyu “Tack’’ Rojanavudtitham’s relationship with DJ Sakuntala ‘‘Ton Horm’’ Teinpairoj in August 2014.

The brief liaison ended with Namfon and Tack arguing on social media.

Tack was upset after Namfon went on television to insist she and the notorious Romeo were close, fuelling rumours that he had strayed. However, Namfon insisted she saw Tack before he and ‘‘Ton Horm’’ broke up and did not come between them.

Earlier, media reports asked if Tack had found a new woman, after images appeared of him and Namfon in his car. Tack looked less than amused when Namfon lifted her smart phone to take a snap of them together.

Meanwhile, Noom, who is trying to play down his ties to Namfon even as she is relentlessly playing them up, has said nothing more about the end of his pairing with Nicole. Neither party wanted to air the matter in the media, as they wanted to protect each other’s feelings.

The hearthrob actor, who once entertained plans to marry Nicole by the end of this year, but in the end parted with her before the relationship was even a year old, said he is now back in the single’s market.

Indie Arm seeks quieter life

A teenage look tung singer who has gone “indie” after falling out with her manager and plunging a multi-million baht singing duo which he oversaw into tatters has consulted a celebrity lawyer on her resulting legal woes.

Arm Chutima, 18, has parted with her ex-manager Prachakchai Naowaras, but faces the prospect of legal action if she performs music which he claims she signed over to his label. She has now consulted lawyer Songkran Atchariyasap about tearing up her contract.

Arm penned the hit Pu Sao Kha Loh for her friend and co-singer Lamyai Haithongkham, propelling Lamyai to overnight fame on YouTube. The pair were later sold as a duo under Prachakchai’s music label before she left the camp, claiming he had treated her unfairly.

Making the most of her self-declared status as an indie, Arm last week released a single in her own name, Mi Haeng Lord Suu, which at the time of writing has notched up almost 6 million views on YouTube. Accompanied by TV crews, the youngster last week visited the Senate to consult with Mr Songkran, who is a member of a law reform panel. He said Arm signed her employment contract with Prachakchai when she was still legally under-age, so he was confident it would not give them too much trouble. “Another agreement forbids her from performing for anyone else. But she can still perform own songs as an independent,” he said.

Mr Songkran said he would take steps to get the contracts overturned, and urged Prachakchai to get in touch over the next week if he has something to say. “I feel sorry for her. She’s the same age as my daughter and is trying to make a go of it alone, but has come up against problems as she fights for justice,” he said.

Prachakchai said Arm was in breach of contract by releasing songs and performing concerts in her own name. “Her contract still has three years to run but I cannot do much for now because an elder in industry has asked me to give the dispute some time so we can talk to the other side.

“Under the law she us still an artist with this label and can’t return or tear up the contract,” he added. “I will have to pursue the matter legally. Every label must see this case as setting a standard, because there is a law in place which must be upheld,” he said. The dispute continues.
