ETHEREAL WONDERS OF THE WORLD
River City Bangkok presents two exhibitions of large-scale prints of photographs taken in some of the most iconic natural locations and built environment by two internationally recognised photographers at the RCB Photographers’ Gallery, 2nd floor, until Sept 9.
Sven Ellsworth’s exhibition, “Biliad: 12 Degrees Of Architecture And Nature”, illustrates the bridge between the spiritual and physical realm. From nature’s red earth monuments in the stark deserts landscape to monumental architectural superstructures, these images capture Asia, the Middle East and the photographer’s roots in America. They represent his love and awe of nature and man’s creativity to shape steel and glass into iconic structures.
Ellsworth is an American photographer living in Asia whose deepest love lies in photographing architecture, interiors, people and cityscapes. It’s their shapes and light that create the depth in his images.
For “Portraits Of Places: Wiltshire To Kyoto”, Ti Foster from England took the first picture in what would become a series spanning several chapters of his life. He developed a process, a way of working from nature that was purely intuitive, aesthetically and geographically. Starting in his home of Wiltshire in 1999, the journey ends with the commission of Kyoto Green in 2016, a portrait of a moss garden.
Trained in art and design, Foster is a self-taught photographer whose work has been exhibited and collected internationally. He also collaborates with architects, designers and developers on site-specific photographic installations.
Both exhibitions are part of the Photo Bangkok 201. They can be viewed daily from 10am to 10pm. River City Bangkok is on Charoen Krung 24.
