Restaurant floor collapse injures 29
ACCIDENT: Twenty-nine factory workers from Buri Ram were injured when the floor of a seaside restaurant collapsed into the sea at Bang Saray beach in Chon Buri’s Sattahip district yesterday.
Local police were informed of the incident at 12.30pm. They said the injured were among a group of about 200 employees of Buriram Sugar Plc who were on a field trip there.
They were taken for a meal at the Ruantalay Bangsaray Restaurant, said Pol Lt Patananant Somnual, deputy inspector-general of Sattahip police station.
The restaurant sits above the sea on a wooden floor built on concrete pillars.
As the group were walking to their seats, they stopped to look at the aquariums that are a feature of the restaurant. Suddenly, part of the wooden floor collapsed, leaving a hole about six metres wide and 11m long.
