Footie betters hit with legal action
CRIME: Legal action is being pursued against more than 15,000 suspects over football-related gambling offences since the World Cup began last month.
Along with the arrests nationwide, authorities also impounded cash and assets valued at over 45 million baht, deputy national police chief Chalermkiat Srivorakan said yesterday.
Of the suspects, three are aged under 18 and were detained in Mukdahan and Bung Kan.
Their parents will face charges under the Child Protection Act which carry a maximum prison term of three years and a maximum fine of 30,000 baht, he said.
