- SUTTHIWIT CHAYUTWORAKAN

SAMUT PRAKAN: A man who was chased by three cars and shot repeatedly in Muang district early on Thursday morning was wanted for attempted murder.

Pol Col Torpong Tantrawanit, chief of the Muang Samut Prakan police station, identified the seriously injured man as Tewan Pimchan, 27. The native of Surin province was suspected of colluding in an attempted murder using a gun.

The man, whose arrest warrant was issued on May 24, had been at large until he was shot and hospitalised on Thursday.

Three cars chased his motorcycle down Srinakarin Road in Samut Prakan. One struck his bike and several men from the cars pulled him over to the roadside where he was shot four times in the abdomen.

He was then taken to Soi Sridan 3 where he managed to flee and sought help from local residents.

Mr Tewan survived but was recuperating yesterday in a guarded room at Samut Prakan Hospital.

Pol Col Torpong quoted him as saying that one of the attackers was a man known as “Big Bang Phli”, after the name of a district of Samut Prakan.

Police attributed Thursday’s shooting to a business conflict. They are believed to have engaged in illegal business dealings together.

Police have identified all of the suspects and were searching for them.
