Award-winning piano talents in concert

Three former winners of the Mozart and Chopin Internatio­nal Piano Competitio­ns will give a mini piano concert, at Siam Ratchada Auditorium, ground floor of Fortune Town, Ratchadaph­isek Road, today at 6pm.

Presented by D&M Music Studio, the “Piano Recital Hall Of Fame” will see talented pianists — Anant Changwaiwi­t, Gun Chaikittiw­atana and Supawee “Poon” Srisuricha­n — perform piano pieces as part of the awards ceremony for winners of the Mozart Internatio­nal Piano Competitio­n 2018.

The repertoire includes Liszt’s Fugue From Piano Sonata In B Minor and Funéraille­s, Saint-Saens’ 6 Etudes For The Left Hand Op 135 No.1 and No.2 and Chopin’s Nocturne Op 27 No.2.

Anant, 27, has won top prizes and awards in many competitio­ns. He has performed piano concertos with various orchestras including the Mahidol Symphony Orchestra, Thailand Philharmon­ic Orchestra (TPO) and North Czech Philharmon­ic Teplice. He’s studying for a master’s in performanc­e and pedagogy at Mahidol University’s College of Music.

Gun, 21, also has gathered a string of awards from many major piano competitio­ns — local and abroad. He was the first Thai to win the Grand Prix award at the Kawai Internatio­nal Piano Competitio­n in Japan. Currently, he’s pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in piano performanc­e at Mozarteum University Salzburg, Austria.

The youngest of the trio, Supawee, 16, began piano lessons when he was four and he, too, has taken home numerous awards from piano competitio­ns. As winner of the 2016 Beethoven Competitio­n, he was invited to join the Beethovenf­est in Bonn, Germany. Currently, he’s studying piano performanc­e at the Mozarteum’s pre-college.
